The particle physics groups at the University of Siegen are celebrating a historic success: the joint Excellence Cluster Color meets Flavor has been selected for funding within Germany’s Excellence Strategy. Together with partners from the University of Bonn, TU Dortmund University, and Forschungszentrum Jülich, the groups will receive significant funding over the next seven years.
Beginning in January 2026, the cluster will significantly expand the collaboration between the partner institutions and strengthen ongoing research into fundamental questions of particle physics. The researchers will combine expertise from theory and experiment to study the interplay of color and flavor interactions, search for new physical phenomena, and deepen our understanding of the fundamental structure of matter. The cluster marks a major milestone for the university’s research profile.
