First step on the path to excellence

The University of Siegen has achieved a significant success in the current round of the Excellence Strategy by the Federal Government and the States. The outline for an excellence cluster in the field of elementary particle physics was selected in a crucial German research competition from 143 submitted proposal sketches. The cluster, named "Color meets Flavor," in collaboration with the universities of Bonn and Dortmund, as well as the Jülich Research Center, now has the opportunity to submit a full proposal. If successful, the research project stands to receive generous funding in the form of a double-digit million sum! The research in the planned cluster focuses on fundamental questions in particle physics and offers the opportunity to discover groundbreaking new phenomena in this fascinating field. If the cluster is approved, this would be an extraordinarily remarkable success for the university.
